George Muller was walking down the streets of Bristol when he saw an orphan girl with her little brother on her back. She looked up at him and said,
"Could you please spare a shilling sir?" She said her name was Emily and then she spelled her name for him and he gave her a shilling. He watched her go and all of his plans for the future changed that day. Then he started an orphanage. It grew bigger and bigger until had five houses for orphans. One day they were all sitting at the table but there wasn't any food or money to buy any. They prayed about this problem. Just then the baker knocked and brought in a ton of bread and said, "I could not sleep last night. I thought maybe you'd need this." After he left the milk man knocked and said, "My cart is broken. Please take all the bottles of milk while I fix it up." He closed the door behind him. George Muller saw many ways of how God could provide for the orphans through all those hard times. George went nearly around the world and preached all he could. A lot of times he strolled along paths talking to the orphans about God's love. George had faith in God to feed all those orphans, and God, through Georges faith, provided wonderfully.

Mommy wanted me to do a BN (BN stands for Biographical Narrative which is one of the speech categories in NCFCA) but I simply can't find anything to talk about. She wanted me to write about Nelson Mandela but Ben said he was a little hard to write about. So I can't find anything to write about. And I don't know how that's going to turn out.
When I grow up I want to want to run an Orphanage, so that I can see all the children grow up, and cook for them, and do all the things I need to do like a mother would do. Mom wants me to start teaching Maddie and Dan the world on a world map. At first when I tried to read I thought I couldn't do this at all! But now it's so fun and I am so glad I got through all the pains of it. |
AuthorBeing an eight-year-old in a big family is lots of fun. I play games with Maddie, Dan, and Ben. I love reading, especially the books I choose from our bookshelves. Archives |
